To ensure the Parcel Freight Shopify app functions correctly, your store must meet certain technical and account-level requirements. This article outlines what’s supported, what’s required, and any known limitations.
Minimum Store Requirements #
- Shopify Plan: Basic or higher
- Note: Carrier-calculated shipping must be enabled. This is standard on Advanced and Plus plans. Basic plan users may need to request this from Shopify support.
- Product Data: All products must include:
- Weight (kg)
- Dimensions (length, width, height in cm)
- Active Loadlink Account: A Parcel Freight account with API credentials is required to return rates
Feature Compatibility #
The app supports:
- Real-time rate calculation at checkout
- Domestic freight within Australia
- Packaged goods with standard parcel or pallet dimensions
- Multi-product carts, provided all items contain valid data
- Shopify’s built-in shipping zones and profiles
Not Supported #
Parcel Freight does not support:
- International shipping
- Products without weight or size data
- Dangerous goods, oversized freight, or irregular items
- Custom shipping rules created with third-party apps
- Bundled or virtual products (if physical attributes are missing)
Known Limitations #
- One active origin location: The app uses your store’s default shipping address as the origin point for all rate calculations
- Manual address correction: Incomplete or invalid checkout addresses may prevent rates from appearing
- No custom rate markups or handling fees: The app passes through Loadlink-calculated rates directly
- Limited rate visibility during setup: Rates only appear at checkout and cannot be previewed elsewhere
Make sure your product catalogue is fully prepared before enabling the app in a live store. Testing is strongly recommended using a development store or by completing trial checkouts.
