Loadlink WooCommerce Shipping Plugin
Overview #
The Loadlink WooCommerce Shipping Plugin communicates with the Loadlink platform using secure API credentials. This connection is required to retrieve live shipping rates and create shipments.
This page explains how the API connection works, how to enter credentials, and how to diagnose common connection issues.
What the API Connection Is Used For #
The Loadlink API connection is used to:
- Retrieve real-time shipping rates at Cart and Checkout
- Validate available Loadlink service levels
- Attach shipping data to WooCommerce orders
- Create shipment records when orders are confirmed
No API requests are made until valid credentials are saved.
API Credentials Required #
To connect the plugin to Loadlink, you will need:
- API key or token issued by Loadlink
- Any required account or environment identifiers
These credentials are provided by Loadlink and are unique to your account.
Where to Enter API Credentials #
- Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping.
- Open the relevant shipping zone.
- Edit the Loadlink shipping method.
- Locate the API Settings section.
- Enter your Loadlink API credentials.
- Save changes.
Credentials are stored securely within WordPress.
Testing the API Connection #
If a connection test option is available:
- Save your credentials.
- Click Test Connection.
- Confirm a successful response.
A successful test confirms the plugin can communicate with the Loadlink API.
If no test option is available, connection validation occurs automatically when shipping rates are requested.
Common API Connection Errors #
Invalid Credentials #
- Check for copy and paste errors
- Confirm credentials are current and active
- Ensure credentials belong to the correct Loadlink account
No Rates Returned #
- Confirm API credentials are saved
- Verify product shipping data is complete
- Ensure the delivery address is valid and Australian
Connection Timeout #
- Confirm outbound HTTPS requests are allowed
- Check firewall or hosting security rules
- Verify cURL and OpenSSL are enabled
API Environment Behaviour #
- API requests are made only when shipping rates are required
- No background polling occurs
- Failed requests do not affect existing orders
- Errors are logged where logging is enabled
This approach ensures performance and stability.
Security Considerations #
- API credentials should not be shared
- Only administrators should have access to plugin settings
- Credentials can be rotated through Loadlink if required
When to Contact Support #
Contact Loadlink support if:
- Valid credentials fail to authenticate
- Rates are not returned despite correct setup
- API errors persist after validation
Provide log entries where available to assist diagnosis.
